Wildlife Management Gate at km186

Under the authority of the section 54.01 of the Public Lands Act, the ANC road is closed beyond km186 for the purposes of:

  • Security
  • Wildlife Management,
  • Fisheries Management,
  • Water Management and
  • Vegetation Management

UNAUTHORIZED on-highway vehicles are prohibited. Operators of unauthorized vehicles beyond the km186 gate may be found guilty of an offence.

If you are an AUTHORIZED user, you must obtain the gate code from the Parent company you are working for.

If you want further information about the gate requirements, please contact the local Fish & Wildlife Office.

Current Road Conditions

Red Light
March 27, 2025 : 9:05 AM -

A 12-hr road ban on the ANC Haul road is now in effect as of Monday March 24th at 10am.  If you must use the road during the banned hours, ALL traffic over 1-ton  – includes trucks hauling produced fluid – will require a permit number to give the checkpoint at km3 as well as roaming patrol.

Permits are obtained from this website and will be emailed to you immediately. If you do not see it, be sure to check your junk folder. If you do not see it in your junk folder, contact your company to add website@ancroad.com to their safe list. If you set up the permit(s) prior to the road ban coming into effect, you will use it/them now. Once a permit is set up for a surface location, you can continue to use the same permit for the duration of the ban.

Travel is not restricted for vehicles 1-ton (350/3500) and under.
